Welcome to the Loeb Center Social Impact webpage.
Social impact work creates measurable, values-driven outcomes that address socioeconomic challenges and promote equal opportunities for varied impactful outcomes. Here, you’ll find a wealth of resources to help you pursue a career in the public interest. Engaging in this field of work fulfills the human impulse to serve both society and oneself—a cornerstone of a strong, democratic republic. The private sector is also an emerging conduit for global change for students to explore careers—social impact consulting, ESG and political risk analysis, smart philanthropy, and corporate social responsibility—that tackle AI trust and safety; Web3 enabled cybersecurity; weather modification and climate change; civil and individual rights; war, conflict and peace, among other pertinent issues.
About 10% of the U.S. workforce works in the nonprofit sector, much of it through small, community-rooted organizations with fewer than 100 employees and operating budgets below $100,000. Government at the federal, state, and local levels—along with its contractors and partners—employs millions more across public-service systems.
As AI reshapes how organizations deliver services, measure outcomes, raise funds, and engage communities, the social-impact sector has a timely opportunity: to use new tools to strengthen—not replace—the human relationships, lived experience, and trust at the heart of lasting change.
We invite you to join this small but influential community of changemakers—building the skills, networks, and practical approaches needed to lead in a rapidly evolving social-impact landscape.
