Interning For Democracy

Are you wondering how to translate your interest in strengthening democracy into a professional path? Internships are the best way to explore options and develop relevant professional skills that will allow you to turn your ideals into practice and make a difference.

If you would like to devote a summer to interning in a democracy-strengthening organization, the Loeb Center invites you to join a special career pathway program designed to help you identify and apply to relevant internships, connect with alumni mentors in the field, and learn together with peers who share a similar mission.

Program components include:

  • Guaranteed summer internship stipend
  • Customized career advising from Careers in Social Impact Program Director Micah Owino
  • Cohort-based internship pre-departure session to prepare you for your first professional steps in the field
  • Exclusive summer alumni webinar, connecting you with career guidance directly from professionals whose careers are dedicated to supporting democracy
  • Fall cohort luncheon with President Elliott, to celebrate your work and reflect on next steps in your academic and professional journey

To participate in the program and receive funding, you must commit to participating in all program components, and accept an internship that conforms with Charles Hamilton Houston Internship Program funding eligibility requirements.
