Siemens Energy Environmental Health & Safety Intern
Location: Fort Payne, AL
Job Description
The intern will support the EHS Specialist, they will develop and execute initiatives to reduce employee risk, improve environmental performance all while aligning with the long-term goals of the organization.
Responsibilities
Some examples of tasks include:
- Job Safety Analysis updates.
- LOTO instructions.
- Environmental Reporting.
- Permit management (Stormwater, Hazardous Waste, etc.)
- Incident investigations
- Personal Protective Equipment: defining area specific requirements.
- Sound level evaluations and provide input on engineering solutions to reduce the sound levels.
- Keep employees training records up to date.
The intern will be assigned job tasks and projects that will require an above average proficiency and experience with PC-based software packages for presentation, spreadsheet, and chart applications. These may include but are not limited to MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, etc.
The intern should possess the ability to work independently with minimal direction and input from supervisors and managers. The intern should also be comfortable with taking the initiative and gathering the required data and information to complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner while maintaining high standards for quality.
Education
Candidate must be currently pursuing an associate’s or bachelor’s degree.
Year of Study
Minimum Requirement – Completion of Freshman year.
Involvement with any Environmental, Health and Safety programs is highly preferred.
Weekly Working Duration
20-40 hours per week
Assignment Schedule/Duration
Summer 2024. Possibly longer.
