Did you know that James Hewlett, a 19th-century Black actor, was among the first to perform solo plays? Black American Theater has been a rich and vibrant cultural tradition for over two centuries, yet its pioneers and their incredible impact on contemporary theater have been consistently overlooked and excluded. But with “Reclamation,” we will embark on an exciting journey to excavate and restore their legacy.
