Study and Work Abroad Fellowships

Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst (“DAAD”) Annual Grant Program
The program offers annual grants to highly qualified advanced graduate students for study and/or research at universities or institutes in Germany. Applicants must be proficient in German (proficiency requirements are less stringent for applicants in the sciences or engineering). Applicants in all fields except dentistry and medicine who are citizens of the United States or are foreign nationals who have studied at Boston University for more than one year are eligible to apply. The grant provides: a full scholarship for ten months, a monthly stipend, round-trip airfare, insurance, and shipping of personal effects.

Pre-application Deadline: Early June.
Final Deadline: Early September

NSEP (National Security Education Program) Graduate International Fellowships
The fellowships are open to U.S. citizens for graduate work leading to the Ph.D. in area or language studies, or to add an international dimension to the curriculum in other types of programs. Awarded for study outside of Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Students applying as graduating seniors must also be applying for admission to an appropriate U.S. graduate program. All recipients of NSEP awards must seek employment with a federal agency or office involved in national security affairs.
