Student Conservation Association
SCA sponsors several conservation and environmental programs, mainly in national parks, forests and wildlife refuges. Undergraduates and recent alumni are eligible for the program. SCA now offers AmeriCorps education awards of between $1,180 to $4,725 to individuals who successfully complete an SCA Conservation Internship. The award can be applied toward existing college loans or future tuition. Plus, students receivecollege loan deferment and SCA’s financial package of travel, housing, a weekly living allowance and insurance.

NSF Graduate Teaching Fellows Program at Duke
The NSF Graduate Teaching Fellows Program at Duke, funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), is a collaborative program between Duke University Marine Laboratory and educators and administrators of Carteret County public schools and is designed to provide Duke NSF Graduate Teaching Fellows the opportunity to combine K-12 teaching experiences with research in the thematic area of Life in Variable and Polluted Marine and Coastal Environments.
