Position Summary

Wye River Upper School seeks a Grant Research & Advancement Writing Intern to support fundraising, donor communications, and mission-driven storytelling. The intern will work closely with the Director of Advancement to research funding opportunities, assist with proposal development, organize prospect information, and contribute to advancement communications.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Research grant prospects, foundations, and corporate funding opportunities
  • Help track deadlines, submissions, and grant calendars
  • Draft or edit proposal content, letters of inquiry, and donor communications
  • Gather school data, program details, and supporting materials for funding requests
  • Support stewardship, impact reporting, and other advancement projects

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications:

  • Strong writing, editing, research, and organizational skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines independently
  • Professional communication skills
  • Interest in nonprofit, education, communications, fundraising, or related fields
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace preferred

Internship Details

  • Location: Hybrid, based in Centreville, Maryland
  • Schedule: Approximately 8–12 hours per week with flexible scheduling
  • Duration: Semester-long or up to 6 months
  • Compensation: Academic credit eligible; stipend may be available depending on experience and structure
