Medical Assistant — Premed Gap-Year Position | Westport, CT

This is not a typical MA job! Westport Pain & Performance is a new interventional pain and longevity medicine practice founded by Adam Nessim, MD, with a planned office opening in July 2027.

Help launch a new medical practice while gaining hands-on clinical experience, direct physician mentorship, and medical school admissions guidance.

You will work side by side with Dr. Nessim, help prepare the practice for opening, and support patient care as it grows. You will gain exposure to interventional pain procedures, musculoskeletal medicine, regenerative medicine, and longevity care while watching a medical practice get built from the ground up.

What makes this opportunity different

• Direct physician mentorship. Work closely with Dr. Nessim and learn how he evaluates patients, develops treatment plans, and approaches procedures.

• Medical school admissions mentorship. Dr. Nessim also founded The Premed Consultants, a national medical school admissions consulting company. You will have access to his guidance as you prepare your application.

• Hands-on clinical experience. Help prepare for procedures, assist the physician during procedures, and participate in clinical tasks appropriate to your training and under physician supervision. Procedure exposure may include epidural steroid injections, facet joint procedures, radiofrequency ablation, and PRP injections.

• A potential letter of recommendation. Strong performance and a close working relationship may lead to a detailed, personal letter supporting your medical school application.

• Experience launching a practice. Join early and help shape how a new physician-led practice serves its patients.

• Technology and social media. Contribute to a practice that uses technology, patient education, and social media to connect with its community.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and collect vital signs and medical histories.
• Prepare procedure rooms, equipment, and supplies.
• Assist Dr. Nessim during clinic and procedures, with increasing responsibility as your training and skills develop.
• Support physician-directed patient education, follow-up, scheduling, and care coordination.
• Help prepare the office for opening and support daily operations as the practice grows.
• Help create educational social media content and document the launch of the practice while respecting patient privacy.

Who should apply

• College seniors or recent graduates planning a gap year before medical school.
• Applicants interested in interventional pain, musculoskeletal medicine, regenerative medicine, and evidence-based longevity care.
• People who are reliable, personable, organized, and eager to learn.
• Applicants comfortable with technology and social media. We are building a tech-forward practice with an active social media presence, and you should be excited to contribute.
• Applicants comfortable taking initiative and adapting as a new practice develops. Experience filming or editing short videos is a plus.

Location and timing

Full-time, in person in Westport, Connecticut. $20-30/hour.

Anticipated start: late May or early June 2027, with flexibility around graduation. Initial work will focus on preparing for the planned July opening, followed by patient-facing clinical responsibilities.

An early remote internship opportunity may also be available for candidates interested in helping before the in-person start date.
