Engineering Intern

We are seeking Florida’s Best In-State Engineering Interns

General Purpose of Job

This position is a summer internship in the Engineering Department assisting and closely following Engineers. The internship is designed to help develop electrical engineering experience and skills within the electric utility industry in the areas of overhead and underground line design, planning and design of construction of electric facilities, development of distribution system model used for loading, voltage and fault analysis, substation design and system protection design.

Minimum Required Qualifications and Competencies

The following includes the minimum job requirements and essential duties for this position. Education

Must be enrolled in an Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited University or Relay Technician School.

Must have completed at least one year of engineering course requirements or relay technical courses.

Prefer experience with or knowledge of: GE Design Manager or similar design/drawing aids (Auto-CAD, PLS-CAD)

Experience

Preferred: Experience within an electric utility or related industry.

Other Requirements

Ability to operate a variety of office equipment, including a personal computer, printers, copy machines, telephone, and fax machines.

Ability to work irregular hours for assignment completion and flexibility to change scheduling and report to work on short notice during emergency situations.

Normal work hours will be eight (8) hours Monday through Friday, between 7:30 am to 5:00 pm.

Valid Florida driver’s license for regular driving privileges of cooperative vehicles; must have and maintain an acceptable driving record as determined by the Cooperative.

Successful completion of pre-employment background check, physical and drug screen.
