Who Is Portal Innovations:

Portal Innovations is a biotech venture development engine, focused on early-stage life science enterprises. We help exceptional life sciences innovators build their companies where they live and beyond. Launched in 2020, we surround these entrepreneurs with the resources and network they need for seed capital, state-of-the-art lab space, a community-based ecosystem, and access to experts in their fields and prospective investors and partners.

We are looking for colleagues who bring grit to our daily opportunities, seeing every task as a chance to grow. Our team strives to have a deep understanding of our members’ needs, and we are dedicated to ensuring Portal is a vibrant and uplifting environment for everyone. Our people-centricity begins with how we empower each other—prioritizing a culture of mutual care so we can provide world-class service to the companies we support. In our collaborative space, we celebrate our wins and approach new challenges with resilience, viewing them as fuel for innovation to enhance the lives of our members. If you are excited to work alongside a team dedicated to making a meaningful impact, we want to meet you!

The Opportunity:

Portal has an opportunity at our Ocean State Lab location for a Member Experience Intern this summer. Gain hands-on experience supporting a growing innovation hub as we build momentum from our opening and deepen our presence in the Life Sciences ecosystem. This role is ideal for someone who has a knack for creating great experiences, enjoys fast paced learning, and wants to build skills across event coordination, hospitality, content creation, and day-to-day operations.

What You’ll Do

Events & Hospitality

· Gain experience in end-to-end event logistics — from setup and guest check-in to breakdown

· Learn how to create a welcoming, professional environment for members, guests, and event attendees

· Support seamless on-site execution of events like lunch and learns, workshops, networking events, and community programming

Content & Social Media

· Learn how to capture compelling photos and short videos that tell the story of our members and ecosystem

· Collaborate with your on-site team and our National Marketing team to draft social media posts that reflect the energy and culture of our Ocean State location

Office Operations

· Support front desk hospitality by greeting and badging in members and visitors

· Help keep the kitchen, office supplies, and print/copy station stocked and organized

· Support general administrative tasks and gain exposure to the day-to-day operations of a collaborative workspace

What we’re looking for:

  • Students working towards their Associates or Bachelors in related field
  • Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
  • 1-2 years of foundational interest or experience in any science concentration or a related field
  • Comfort asking questions and a willingness to take on new challenges
  • Ability to work well with others

Compensation: $18 – 18.50 per hour

Work Authorization/Security-Clearance Requirements:

Must be eligible to work in the United States.

Portal is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. We consider qualified applicants without regard to race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, marital or family status, disability, genetic information, veteran status, or any other legally protected basis under provincial, federal, state, and local laws, regulations, or ordinances.
