PeacePlayers Detroit is excited to offer dynamic internship opportunities (20-25 hours per week) for individuals passionate about sports-based youth development programming. We are seeking motivated candidates for the

following roles:

Youth Development & Coaching Intern: Assist with Program Facilitation – Support program coordinators in leading engaging youth development sessions, incorporating basketball skills and leadership activities.
Player & Coach Development Support – Help implement coaching strategies, provide feedback, and assist in training coaches to align with PeacePlayers’ mission.
Participant Recruitment & Engagement – Assist in outreach efforts to ensure youth participation, retention, and overall program satisfaction.
Support Special Training Sessions – Assist with workshops and mentorship programs focused on skill development, social-emotional learning, and leadership.
Community Engagement & Partnerships – Aid in building relationships with schools, community centers, and local organizations to strengthen program reach and impact.

Program coordinator intern: Support Program Planning & Execution – Assist in organizing and implementing basketball-based youth development programming, ensuring alignment with PeacePlayers’ core values and strategic goals.
Participant Engagement & Outreach – Help recruit and retain youth participants by building relationships, communicating program opportunities, and fostering an inclusive and engaging environment.

Assist with Curriculum Implementation – Support program coordinators in delivering leadership development, conflict resolution, and teamwork activities through sports-based youth development sessions.

Event & Logistics Coordination – Aid in planning and executing community events, field trips, and program activations, including setup, registration, and participant supervision.

Support Event Planning & Execution – Assist in organizing and executing events such as
the MLK Day event, field trips, twinning’s, and special partnership programs.

Qualifications
– Previous experience working with youth in coaching, mentoring, or teaching roles.
– Basketball knowledge and ability to teach fundamental skills and teamwork.

– Proficient in Word, Excel, and Canva
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
– Commitment to creating inclusive and equitable spaces for youth of all backgrounds.
– Understanding of (or willingness to learn) peacebuilding and conflict resolution curriculum.
– Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
– Must pass a background check per PeacePlayers’ youth safety policies.

Position Details
– Type: Internship (20–25hours per week depending on season and programming needs)
– Location: Detroit & Oakland County program sites (schools, recreation centers, and community gyms)
– Compensation: Stipend Pay and Co-op work credits

-Yearly internship looking for availability for both semesters and potentially the summer
