* This internship is based in our Fargo, ND office and requires 20 hours per week, scheduled in 4-8 hour blocks during the workweek. *

Intern Communications

Job Summary

Intern Communications is a formal training/development position with specific responsibilities within the communications section to assist in projects and special assignments as needed. It has an individual work plan that outlines specific duties and projects for the duration of the internship as well as overall goals for the internship period. A designated mentor will provide supervision, guidance, and support.

Essential Functions

Key Duties/Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Assist with the management of social media channels, including creating content and scheduling social media posts.
  • Help develop and implement communications plans to support key organizational initiatives.
  • Assist with the creation of communications collateral.
  • Support event planning and coordination efforts, including pre-event promotion and post-event follow-up.
  • Conduct research on our target audience, competitors, and industry trends.
  • Monitor and report on key metrics related to our communication efforts.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Currently pursuing an Associate in Arts degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.

Preferred Qualifications

Above requirements and the following:

  • Experience with social media management and content creation.
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelors, Masters or higher degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field.

The pay range for this position is $16.48 – $19.78 per hour, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
