Science Communication Student Internship – NC Space Grant (Paid)

The Science Communication Intern position creates and edits content in collaboration with the team serving North Carolina Space Grant. Primary responsibilities will include web and social media communications as well as administrative tasks and other activities related to the NC Space Grant Symposium in April.

We invite applications from students in English, Professional and Technical Writing, and Communications or with strong writing, editing, and social media experience at NC State. Preference given to students with science writing coursework/experience, ability to manage time/meet deadlines, and join weekly team meetings.

Duties may include the following:

  • searching for images to accompany text
  • gathering and drafting content for news releases and stories
  • creating social media posts including design
  • posting online news releases and stories, adding images and hyperlinks
  • proofreading, editing and updating content
  • formatting print products for online publication
  • drafting emails related to grants and announcements
  • helping to market the April symposium
  • additional tasks based on student interest and experience

This hybrid position includes time at the North Carolina Space Grant offices on Centennial Campus. Other Remote and on-location hours will fall within 9:00AM and 5:00PM, Monday through Friday. Hours are flexible within that timeframe, for a total of 10-15 hours/week.
