Position Overview

Mechanical Sales is seeking an accountant to join our growing team! This position is ideal for someone who is eager to further develop their accounting skills while contributing to financial reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, and driving process improvements. The accountant will play an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close activities, assisting with our Oracle NetSuite ERP implementation, and providing financial information that helps drive business decisions.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Balance Sheet Reconciliations
    • Prepare and maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations
    • Research and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner
    • Maintain supporting documentation for assigned general ledger accounts
    • Identify and recommend improvements to reconciliation processes
    • Assist with month-end and year-end close activities
  • Bank Reconciliations
    • Perform monthly bank reconciliations
    • Research and resolve discrepancies
  • General Accounting
    • Assist with journal entries and general ledger maintenance
    • Collaborate with other departments to resolve accounting-related questions
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis
    • Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and management reports
    • Analyze financial results and investigate account variances
    • Prepare recurring and ad hoc financial reports
    • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data
  • ERP Implementation Support
    • Assist with data validation and reconciliation during ERP implementation
    • Participate in testing and process documentation
    • Support accounting process improvements related to the new ERP system
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance and be able to work outside of normal office hours when necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 1-2 years of accounting experience required
  • Experience with ERP systems or accounting software, preferred
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other business software
  • Experience with financial reporting and reconciliations
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team

Physical Requirements

To perform the essential functions of this position, the employee must be able to do the following, with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting while completing detailed work requiring sustained concentration
  • Frequently use a computer, keyboard, mouse, telephone, and other standard office equipment
  • Occasionally lift and carry office materials weighing up to 20 pounds
  • Occasionally bend, stoop, reach, or stand
