Position Overview:

FT is offering an unpaid internship to a motivated and detail-oriented Baseball Research Intern to join our team. As a Research Intern, you will play a crucial role in supporting our on-air hosts and production team by conducting thorough research on guests scheduled to appear on the show. Additionally, you will delve into topics related to sports betting and gambling in baseball to provide valuable insights and context for discussions on the podcast. This internship offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in research, digital/podcast production, and sports media while contributing to the success of Foul Territory Network’s content.

Like most of our company, this position is fully remote, unless you are in the Orlando, Florida or central New Jersey areas. While the internship is unpaid, we are happy to meet school requirements for academic credit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive research on guests scheduled to appear on the podcast, including their background, professional achievements, and statistics.
  • Compile detailed summaries and briefing documents on each guest, highlighting key talking points, potential discussion topics, and relevant anecdotes to help on-air hosts prepare for interviews.
  • Stay informed about current events, trends, and developments in the world of baseball, with a focus on topics related to sports betting, gambling, and their impact on the sport.
  • Assist in fact-checking and verifying information presented during episodes to ensure accuracy and credibility.
  • Collaborate with the production team to brainstorm ideas for guest interviews and segment topics that align with FT’s content strategy.
  • Stay organized and maintain detailed documentation of research findings, guest profiles, and other relevant information using internal systems and databases.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum 10 hours of availability per week
  • Strong research skills with the ability to gather, analyze, and synthesize information from multiple sources.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to distill complex information into clear and concise summaries.
  • Interest in baseball and a solid understanding of the sport’s history, culture, and current events.
  • Familiarity with sports betting and gambling concepts, including odds, betting markets, and regulatory frameworks, with a specific focus on baseball.
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in conducting online research and utilizing research tools and databases effectively.
  • Enthusiasm for learning and willingness to take on new challenges in a fast-paced environment.

Benefits:

  • Opportunity to gain hands-on experience in research, digital and podcast production within the sports media industry.
  • Exposure to a diverse range of topics and perspectives in baseball and sports betting.
  • Mentorship from experienced professionals in the field.
  • Potential for future opportunities and career advancement within Foul Territory.

How to Apply:

If you’re passionate about baseball, sports betting and/or conducting research to uncover compelling stories, we want to hear from you! Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your interest in the position and relevant experience.
