Mentor Fellows are a unique leadership and professional development opportunity for current iMentor College students. Working an average of 15 hours a week from August through June, Fellows will support 11th and 12th grade programming at a partner high school. Fellows will support mentees with advising tasks, support outreach to mentees and families to build buy-in for programmatic engagement and provide iMentor Program Managers with administrative support. Fellows will take part in intensive training and professional development in August, with ongoing training and support throughout the year.
The ideal candidate will have an interest in education, youth development, or non-profit careers. They will believe deeply in mentoring as a tool for youth success and be confident that, with the right support, a caring, committed adult can build a relationship with a student and support their post-secondary journey. They will show an enthusiasm for using their experience as an iMentor mentee to support the next generation of iMentor students. Working as an iMentor Fellow requires flexibility and adaptability as the primary responsibilities of the role will shift throughout the year.
High Level Responsibilities
- Support 11th and 12th grade iMentor Program Managers in leading programming at a partner high school, with a focus on post-secondary support (30%)
- Support mentee and family outreach to drive program engagement (30%)
- Provide administrative support to an 11th and 12th grade iMentor Program Manager (30%)
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development (10%)
Detailed Responsbilities
- Provide technical and personal individual support to mentees in completing college and financial aid applications.
- Encourage and support mentee participation in all facets of programming- during and outside of classes- through sharing of personal experiences and targeted focus lists.
- Contribute to the iMentor College enrollment and onboarding processes for 12th grade students.
- Help mentees stay up to date on their post-secondary tracking data in Platform
- Opportunity to facilitate and lead larger programming spaces, including during class, at events, and through other cross-departmental or external opportunities.
- Support outreach to students and families providing regular reminders and guidance around the advising process.
- Support outreach to students and families to build understanding of and buy-in to iMentor Program.
- Support outreach to students and families driving completion of required iMentor forms, including Consent Forms, Pair Expeditions forms, iMentor College interest forms, and more
- Update and organize data through school trackers, iMentor Platform.
- Update and organize required paperwork for program participation.
- Potential to support or lead special projects on an as-needed basis.
- Weekly iMentor Fellow Community of Practice focused on developing professional skills and building community.
- Regular opportunities to provide feedback and input to other iMentor departments through a student lens.
- Occasional team-wide and iMentor-wide meetings and events.
- Occasional school-based meetings and events.
Qualifications
- An interest in working in the education, youth development, and/or non-profit sectors
- Ability to work independently and to collaborate in a team environment
- Must have a customer service orientation and a willingness to connect with others across cultures and differences
- Must be a self-starter and willing to proactively elevate challenges to and collaborate with leadership to develop solutions
- A commitment to the belief in the potential of young people and an understanding of the various challenges that young people may face
- A willingness to ask questions not only to better understand tasks, but also to drive a commitment to incorporating student voice in our program
- Strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to balance multiple tasks

Requirements
- Current active participant in iMentor College Program
- Comfortable working remotely, at the iMentor office, and at partner high school
- Available and excited to work 1-3 evenings per month
- Employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory fingerprinting and criminal background check
- Flexibility to travel throughout Baltimore to partner high school 1-2 times/week, and to staff events and trainings on occasional weeknights and Saturdays; transportation not provided

- $15/hour
- This position is part-time and seasonal, for an average of 20 hours/week from September 2024 through June 2025
- This is a hybrid role that will involve working from the iMentor Baltimore office, local schools, and from home
