If you are seeking a paid internship, we are looking for a motivated, energetic person to join our EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) Team!

Under the general direction of the EHS Manager, the EHS Intern will assist in overseeing the development, implementation, evaluation, and daily activities of the safety programs. This position will focus on prevention and will require due diligence and analytical capabilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment. Train employees’ safety, company policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to employee safety.
  • Documenting safety inspections and audits, citing dangerous areas/procedures and recommending corrective procedures, and maintaining safety equipment supply and availability.
  • Work with managers to monitor compliance and identify safety issues. Assist in creating and implementing safety plans. As well as intervening and preventing any unsafe activities or operations.
  • Assist with internal safety projects ensuing they meet OHSA standards.
  • Keep records of safety-related incidents and propose corrective actions
  • Assist in the selection of appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Participate in the Safety Committee. Promote safety awareness through communication and specific training programs.

Skills and Attributes

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation.
  • Understand or have general knowledge of federal, state and city safety requirements, including OSHA.
  • Must be flexible, open-minded and able to operate in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be highly reliable. Ability to manage priorities at the same time while meeting deadlines.
  • Interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.

Education and Experience

  • HS Diploma or GED required. Junior or Senior student, working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety required.
