Description:

Hatzel & Buehler is currently looking for a safety intern to join our Cleveland Ohio Safety Team. Being a full-service electric company intern will gain valuable experience working with our field teams conducting job site audits, accident/incident investigations, training, and pre job planning. Interns will also have the opportunity to work directly with our customers to help support a safe working environment across all of our projects. Interns will gain valuable experience presenting safety concerns/findings with upper management and implementing corrective actions to address these concerns.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in identifying and reporting any unsafe practices.
  • Assist in coordination of safety duties in such areas as safety committees, preplanning meetings, and toolbox meetings.
  • Participate in training at safety meetings, toolbox meetings and orientations.
  • Assist in promoting safe work practices and safe working conditions in accordance with all Federal, State and Local regulations and owner/contractual requirements.
  • Assist Safety Manager in preconstruction meetings and conducting research as needed.
  • Assist in conducting jobsite and work area inspections/audits with the Safety Manager.
  • Assist in maintaining safety records, including pre-task plans, Job Hazard Analyses, training records, toolbox meetings, maintenance of the SDS and chemical inventory sheets, incident investigations and metrics.
  • Assist in conducting an effective worker orientation program for every new employee and administer and record their participation.

Hatzel & Buehler Internship experience includes:

  • OSHA 10 Hour – Construction
  • OSHA 510
  • NFPA 70E Training
  • First Aid & CPR
  • Exposure to industry leaders

Basic Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student, pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in occupational safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Sciences/Engineering or other relevant degree
  • With day-to-day supervision, effectively manage multiple and changing priorities.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Legal right to work in the United States without restriction.
  • Minimum availability of 12 weeks

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Motivated and proactive learning skills.
  • Problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft office.
  • Strong verbal communication and presenting skills.
