Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Social Work or Criminal Justice with minimum three years’ experience including direct service and supervisory experience preferred. Must have a demonstrated history of taking on progressively greater levels of supervisory/leadership responsibility in previous roles.
Understanding of the dynamics of violence and victimization and the issues related to trauma informed service provision preferred. The ability to maintain and build positive working relationships with community service providers including law enforcement, mental health, and protective service personnel is essential. A familiarity with local community resources is required. Strong communication and organizational skills are necessary. Must have comfort in making home visits, have a working and reliable vehicle, CT driver’s license in good standing and agency required auto insurance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Continuous community outreach, collaboration, and connection to identify, recruit and assess target population of adult victims of crimes including domestic violence, sexual abuse, elder abuse, robbery, assault and hate and bias and child victims of domestic violence, child physical and sexual abuse, assault, robbery and hate and bias
2. Plan, prepare and conduct office, home and off-site services including risk assessment
and safety planning, crisis intervention, information about the criminal justice process, victims’ compensation information and assistance, court advocacy and accompaniment and linkage to other needed community services and supports as needed
3. Select, supervise, and revise, program curricula, designed to provide education, information and support to target population for staff use
4. Support NVAP staff in working collaboratively with other service providers
5. Facilitate case reviews as required
6. Represent the agency in related neighborhood and community meetings, groups and committees
7. Attend agency and program required meetings
8. Complete all record keeping activities as required by the agency and its funding sources
9. Maintain the programs compliance with NVAP’s funding requirements, and the expectations and policies of Family CT.
10. Develop and present child and family violence, crime prevention, crime victim populations and family strengthening activity materials
11. Prepare for, attend, and actively participate in regularly scheduled supervisory meetings with the Director of Community programs
12. Provide regularly scheduled, supportive, and meaningful individual and group supervision to program staff including accompaniment on home visits, observation and meetings
13. Provide regular kind, transparent, and constructive feedback and conduct performance evaluation of direct reports annually
14. Develop program resources to assist staff in effective service delivery
15. Attend educational trainings in related areas
16. Promote the agency’s services, programs, image and philosophy to the public
17. Responsible for managing own time and schedule
18. Supervise student interns, guide staff as task managers with student interns
19. Perform any other reasonably related duties assigned by the Director of Community Programs
20. Maintain timely, accurate, organized, and complete individual case files in agency electronic medical record platform
