About This Role

Provides technical support and assists engineering consultants with inspections, analysis and testing of vehicles, industrial machinery, consumer products and other equipment. Assist in scene surveys, inspections and generation of maps and layout drawings. Assists in application of scientific principles, engineering methods and techniques to a variety of projects. Housing not included.

Mandatory research project must be completed by the end of the Internship and is expected to require approximately 40 hours of effort. Research topic shall be mutually agreed upon between intern and supervisor.

Required Work Hours:

  • Internships with ESi are expected to be full-time, 40-hours per week, from Monday to Friday (Business hours are from 8am-5pm).
  • If you are also enrolled in college – we require that you take no more than 2 classes during your employment semester with ESi and are able to work a minimum of 32 hours per week.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Verbal and Written Communication.
  • Intermediate skills with CAD and office productivity software. Strong mechanical aptitude.

Preferred Skills:

  • MATLAB, AutoCAD

Experience Required:

  • Six months’ working experience required.

Experience Preferred:

  • Machine shop, machine tools, woodworking tools. Demonstrated familiarity with automotive systems. Data acquisition and instrumentation.

Education Required:

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Must have completed at least Freshman year. Academic good standing at an ABET accredited engineering school.

Preferred Education:

  • Major in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Structural Engineering.
  • 3.30 GPA or higher, preferred.

Position Requirements:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Must be able to travel for trips of three days in length.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, walk, crawl, climb and lift up to 50#. Work may occasionally need to be performed at various heights, out of doors in varied climate extremes.
