The Engage the Brain (EtB) Summer Internship Program equips future educators with the knowledge, strategies, and hands-on experience to help every student think, learn, and grow.

Strategy/4 Key Areas

• Training to work with students with learning differences

• Training in curriculum and lesson planning

• Leading sessions with small groups of students

• Receiving feedback for continuous improvement

Training & Experience

Working with Students with Learning Differences • Observe 1:1 sessions with EtB Learning Specialists • Learn strategies to support diverse learners

Curriculum Development & Lesson Planning

• One week of training with the Summer Smarts Director

• Design engaging, differentiated, hands-on curriculum aligned with Universal Design for Learning

• Help create thematic materials for all 6 weeks of Summer Smarts

Leading Student Sessions

• Implement the curriculum you designed during Summer Smarts

• Practice responsive teaching—adjust lessons weekly based on student needs

Feedback & Mentorship

• Receive weekly feedback from the Summer Smarts Director

• Learn strengths, growth areas, and strategies for professional development

Who should apply?

• College Juniors & Seniors pursuing education or related fields • Ideal candidates: Collaborative • Detail-oriented • Self-starters • Highly organized • Especially beneficial for those interested in ESE (Exceptional Student Education) or careers supporting students with learning differences
