Clean Harbors is looking for a Hazardous Materials Technician (Insite Chemist) to join their safety conscious team. This person would be responsible for the performance of tasks associated with collecting, segregating, packing, and preparing for shipment of hazardous waste in accordance with our company policies and procedures at our client location in Panorama City, CA.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 05:00am-02:30pm

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times;
  • Monitor and Pick-up Waste Materials from Accumulation Areas that includes Patient Care Areas, Emergency Departments, Specialty Units, Procedure Rooms, Laboratory Settings, and Other Healthcare Environments.
  • Consolidate Wastes That is Collected for More Efficient Shipping and Disposal of Hazardous Waste
  • Utilize Drum Dollies and Pallet Jacks to Load Waste Shipments into Authorized DOT Transportation Vehicles
  • Assist with Waste Identification and Waste Characterization
  • Assist with the Collection of Samples, Sending Samples to Laboratories for Analysis, and Chain of Custody Preparation (additional charges may apply, sampling of unknown materials may require the use of specialized PPE and equipment, quoted per event)
  • Assist with Labeling Waste Accumulation Containers
  • Check and Maintain Optimal Levels of Operational Supplies (Waste Containers, PPE, and Other Waste Program Materials) While Taking into Account Storage Space Restrictions at Each Facility
  • Assist with Sourcing Materials Utilized by the InSite Hazardous Waste Management Program
  • Assist with Maintaining Shipments Schedules for Waste Transportation and Disposal Services
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

What does it take to work for Clean Harbors?

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required;
  • Hazardous waste experience preferred;
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean Motor Vehicle Record.
