Looking for an internship where you will gain hands-on marketing experience promoting parks and events, while creating professional projects to build your portfolio? The Charleston County Parks’ Marketing Internship allows students in the communications and marketing fields to pursue their career in a fun environment and with an award-winning marketing team.

Job Duties
The Marketing Intern will plan and prepare public relations and marketing campaigns. The Intern will assist with creating content for press releases, trade publications, social media, website and e-mail campaigns. They will execute public relations efforts; obtain photography and video footage of parks and events; work with the news media; and assist with digital marketing strategy. This position will attend meetings and other events that may require evening or weekend attendance.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
• Write news releases on CCPRC programs and special events for distribution to media outlets including local and regional print media, television and radio stations.
• Develop elements of a full marketing campaign for an event, to include press releases, social media posts, digital and web copy, ad copy and graphic design elements.
• Assist in the planning and development of social media content.
• Create content including photography, video, and copy for campaigns.
• Assist with preparation for and attend TV/radio interviews.
• Participate in Marketing reporting including track media coverage.
• Participate in the creation of copy and creatives, and setup for digital marketing campaigns.
• Participate in audience research and reporting with CCPRC Marketing AI tools.
• Assist with the development of the agency’s marketing plan.
• Participate in the writing of an article for publication in a quarterly trade magazine.
• Assist other marketing staff members with projects as needed.

Requirements
• A high school diploma and currently pursuing a four-year college degree in marketing, communication, journalism, public relations, English or related field. Some marketing experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely in oral and written form
• Experience with shooting and editing photography and video footage for use on social media and other outlets
• Knowledge of social media platforms and best practices
• Knowledge of marketing reporting and measurement techniques
• Ability to identify opportunities for partnerships
• Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with fellow employees
• Ability to generate required work on a timely basis, with a high degree of accuracy
• Shall possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
