2022 Job And Internship Fair – Diverse, Equitable And Inclusive Workplaces

Location: United States Experience Type: Job and Internship Fair – Diverse, Equitable and Inclusive Workplaces

Both Amherst College and Williams College are dedicated to supporting the professional development and success of our talented and diverse student populations. On Wednesday, September 28, 2022, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. EST, our career centers co-hosted our third-annual Job and Internship Fair for Diverse, Equitable and Inclusive Workplaces.

Students who self-identify within any marginalized identity group – including, but not limited to, BIPOC, the LGBTQ+ community, military veterans, women and nonbinary students pursuing fields where they are underrepresented, neurodiverse students – were especially encouraged to attend to connect with organizations with proven track records of fostering diversity and celebrating employee differences. Please note, the above list of identity groups is not exhaustive; furthermore, any and all students interested in learning more about participating organizations’ DEI initiatives, or who are seeking out employers who cultivate diverse, equitable and inclusive workplaces, were welcome to register and participate.

Amherst and Williams’ Job and Internship Fair – Diverse, Equitable and Inclusive Workplaces will allow you to:

  • learn about high-quality jobs and/or internships,
  • make important connections with recruiters and alumni representatives, and
  • think critically about professional environments that can help you thrive.

Diversity can strengthen an organization by allowing for different perspectives, but organizations cannot stop there. To not only hire but retain diverse talent, they must ensure that their organizations allow their workers to bring their full selves to work. Here are a few excerpts from participating organizations on how they prioritize and incorporate diversity, equity, and inclusion within their teams.

Our human capital is the most valuable asset we have. The blending of individual differences, life experiences, knowledge, inventiveness, innovation, self-expression, unique capabilities and talent that our employees bring to their work represents a significant part of not only our culture, but our reputation and company’s achievements. We embrace and encourage our employees’ differences be it in age, color, disability, ethnicity, family or marital status, gender identity or expression, language, national origin, physical and mental ability, political affiliation, race, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, veteran status, and other characteristics that make our employees unique. ~ Cornerstone Research

The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) has a longstanding commitment to making the foreign policy community in the United States more representative of American society as a whole. CFR advances this goal through building a diverse membership, staff, and board, as well as by conducting outreach activities to academic and religious institutions, hosting events on relevant topics, and collaborating with other organizations working toward the same mission. CFR looks to cultivate the next generation of foreign policy leaders, both within the organization and more broadly. Through the initiatives outlined below, among others, CFR works to attract and develop future leaders in international affairs. ~ Council on Foreign Relations
