A Big Week for Consulting Recruiting
We understand that students are beginning to receive interview invitations and recruiting updates this week. As the process picks up, please keep in mind that your classmates may be at different stages of recruiting. Some students may still be waiting to hear back, while others may not receive an interview invitation. Please be respectful and thoughtful of everyone navigating the process.
This is also a big week for consulting at Amherst. IGS and BRG will both be on campus, giving students opportunities to learn more about their work, recruiting processes, and career opportunities.
Good news for the Class of 2027: Bain is opening additional full-time opportunities (deadline 10/11/26). If you are still figuring out what you want to do after Amherst, or simply looking for full-time employment opportunities, Bain is hiring.
And don’t worry if you haven’t practiced a case interview yet or aren’t sure where to begin. If you’re interested in exploring the opportunity, book an appointment with me, and I can point you in the right direction and help you identify resources to get started.
Please check the Consulting Collections Page regularly to stay on top of application deadlines and new opportunities. You are not on this journey alone. If you feel stuck on an application, networking call, or interview, please book time with the Loeb Center.
Consulting on Campus: IGS, BRG, Putnam, AlphaSights & Bain
Several consulting firms will be engaging with Amherst students over the next few weeks. Whether you are actively recruiting or simply trying to learn more about consulting, these are great opportunities to meet employers, explore different types of consulting, and better understand the work.
Info Sessions & Events
- BRG Consultant Info Session | Monday, September 14, 7:00–7:45 p.m.
- BRG (Health Analytics Practice) Office Hours | Monday, September 14 | Open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors

- First Look at Bain is open to all class years and is a great introduction for students who want to learn more about the firm. Hear directly from Bain professionals about the work they do, what life at Bain looks like, and what students should know as they begin exploring the firm.
-
AlphaSights Client Services Consultants Office Hours | Thursday, October 1 | Open to juniors and seniors
General Management Info Sessions & Events
I will also include select general management opportunities on the Consulting Collections Page. Many of these roles build similar skills to consulting (communication, problem-solving, working with senior leaders, and understanding how businesses operate) but can lead to different career paths.
- Falcon Partners Executive Search Recruitment Session | Monday, September 28, 7:00–7:45 p.m.
- A great opportunity for students who enjoy the communication and relationship-building side of consulting. You will gain exposure to senior and C-suite executives across financial services without the same emphasis on heavy analytical work.
- Careers at Hartford Financial Services Group | Wednesday, September 23, 12:00–1:00 p.m.
- For students interested in career paths across strategy and economics. This is also a great opportunity for students interested in staying in the Western Massachusetts/Northern Connecticut area, where you can begin your career while benefiting from a lower cost of living than in many major cities.
Fall Sports: Home Game Advising
I receive many questions that need a quick answer, such as advice on one company versus another, a brief resume or cover letter review before you submit an application, or help preparing for a networking conversation. These may not require a full advising appointment, but they are still important.
This Saturday (9/19), I will be on campus during several home games. Stop by with a quick question, for a brief check-in, or to say hello.
- Field Hockey vs. Middlebury | 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
- Women’s Soccer vs. Middlebury | 12:15–1:15 p.m.
- Football vs. Bates | 1:30–2:45 p.m.
- Men’s Soccer vs. Middlebury | 3:00–4:00 p.m.

Networking
Remember that the goal of networking is to learn—not simply ask for a referral. Focus on building a few meaningful connections, asking thoughtful questions, and developing a genuine understanding of the firm, its people, and its work.
When reaching out to Amherst alums, be intentional. Start with one alumnus at a firm, follow up once after about five business days if needed, and prioritize quality conversations over the quantity of outreach.
Looking for firms to explore? Use the Amherst Alumni Directory to identify alums at organizations you’re interested in. Here is also a list of alums who have volunteered to connect with students. Please focus on one connection at a time and be thoughtful with their time.
