Greetings  ▪  Fall 2028 medical/dental school matriculation  ▪  Our fall appointment schedules  ▪  Upcoming events

Greetings

Hello everyone,

We hope you are doing well as the second week of courses comes to an end. This is such a busy and exciting – and also maybe overwhelming – time for everyone. Each new school year is a new opportunity to learn something about ourselves and other people. That is very much true for us, as we meet with returning students and have the distinct pleasure of getting to know new students in our small group advising sessions. Each conversation with you is an opportunity to learn from you, which is a joy and a privilege for us.

As we mentioned in our last newsletter, you can now read the newsletter on the Loeb Center’s website here as well. You may also have noticed that our newsletter is now called something new: “News from Health Professions.” Please rest assured that while the subject line has changed and the format is a little different, you will find the same information about events, jobs, internships, and other important news for our pre-health community that we hope is helpful to you.

Fall 2028 medical/dental school matriculation

Are you planning on applying to matriculate at medical/dental school in Fall 2028? Do you know of friends or classmates who plan to? Help us spread the word: the application process for Fall 2028 begins this fall!

Please email Dean Aronson and Becca if you haven’t already to get your name on the prospective 2028M email list.

All prospective applicants in the 2028 application cycle are required to attend two mandatory applicant meetings this fall.

  • September 16, 7 – 8:30 PM EST
  • October 14, 7 – 8:30 PM EST

Both meetings will be held over Zoom to accommodate the many alumni who plan to apply.

Please note: these are not general information sessions; these are meetings designed for only those people who are seriously considering applying in the 2028M cycle.

Attendance at both meetings is required. You must notify Dean Aronson and Becca ahead of time if you are unable to attend one or both of these two meetings – those who are not in attendance and who did not make accommodations ahead of time will be unable to apply for 2028 matriculation through Amherst’s Health Professions Committee.

Given the focus of September’s meeting, which we hope will provide more clarity on how to decide whether to apply now or not, we will wait to meet one-on-one with prospective 2028 applicants about their applications until after the September mandatory meeting.

Our fall appointment schedules

Dean Aronson and Becca both look forward to meeting with you in a one-on-one advising appointment! Our fall semester appointment availability is now up on Handshake.

Please note that, as always, if you aren’t able to find a time on Handshake that also works with your schedule, please send us an email and we will find a time.

New students (first years and transfer students): please note that you must attend one of our pre-health/pre-med small group advising sessions (on Wednesdays and Fridays throughout September) before you can sign up for a one-on-one appointment. We look forward to seeing you there!
