This article highlights Sanam Ahadi’s journey to medical school, inspired by her grandmother’s preventable death during the COVID-19 pandemic due to language barriers and healthcare inequities. It also introduces Charles R. Drew University (CDU) of Medicine and Science, a historically Black institution focused on addressing health disparities in underserved communities.
